Super Easy and Tasty Sugar Cookie Recipe

This Super Easy and Tasty Sugar Cookie Recipe is brought to you today by the Letters B & L and the numbers 9 & 3. You know this is an easy recipe if the kids did it! And it was so funny listening to Bella try to teach Liza to cook. Scoop that out Liza. No, SCOOP it. LIZA! with a spoon! scoop it out and put it in this bowl. MOMMMMM, Liza’s dumping sugar on the counter! Me: Well, did she at least scoop it first?? Yeah, being a smart ass with the kids is already coming back to haunt me.
When you let kids cook, you have to let go of the idea of anything clean in the kitchen. It took much longer to clean their mess than the entire baking process. But they had fun and were practicing fractions, they shared with each other and best of all, we ate cookies that night!

Ingredients

  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F In a small bowl, stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in egg and vanilla. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients. Roll rounded teaspoonfuls of dough into balls, and place onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  3. Bake 8 to 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden. Let stand on cookie sheet two minutes before removing to cool on wire racks.

These are tasty, even when scribbled on with writing icing! Yummy scribbles. Of course, it’s not necessary to add icing to sugar cookies, but…. why not?

  4. You sound like a great mom. I go nuts when my kids are helping me in the kitchen.

The cookies look GREAT. Sugar cookies are one of my faves – actually, one of the only desserts I like that doesn't involve chocolate.

  5. They look and sound delish. Great photos. Very hard working young ladies and great results.
