Overnight Baked French Toast Recipe

This is one of my favorite recipes because you just throw it all in a 9×13 pan the night before and slide it into the oven in the morning! I realized this morning I only have about a year left before I have to start making 2 pans for these guys!

Ingredients:
1/2 cup butter
1 1/2 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
12 slices soft bread
6 large eggs
1 1/2 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

1. Melt the butter in an 9 x 13-inch baking pan by just sticking it in the oven as it preheats. Stir in 1/2 cup of the brown sugar. Butter 1 side of each piece of bread and layer  two slices deep in the pan – sprinkle 1/2 cup brown sugar on each layer.

2. Whisk the eggs, milk, vanilla and cinnamon together. Pour the mixture evenly over the bread.  Cover and place the pan in the refrigerator overnight.

3. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes (uncovered) or until the bread is browned.

The best thing is that you eat it without any of the normal toppings. The brown sugar makes it sweet enough, so you don’t butter, syrup or powder sugar anything.  Just slice & eat!

This is one of the few meals that every member of the family likes. Usually I just aim for a majority 4/7.

Also, you can use any type of bread. French bread is good, Texas Toast, Multigrain – there are so many possibilities.

This is brilliant! I love French toast, but I’m not awake enough in the AM to throw it together. Perfect idea!

This is a great recipe to throw together on Christmas eve, after the little ones are asleep, and before you ware yourselves out from the late night assembly. I made this last year, and had happy, over excited and FULL kids Christmas morning.
