Meaningful Monday! You know you want the butterfly feeling….

I came across this great video of people who put dollar bills on a tree with little notes for people to take them and enjoy the day. It was neat seeing how different people reacted to the “money tree”. Watch it HERE.  I really admire those people who go out and and try to touch people. (not in the weird way, the warm fuzzy impact a life way.)

As you know if you’ve been reading this blog (and if this is your first time here, what took you so long? Hi!!) Anyway, our family is trying to doing 35 proactive acts of kindness between July 23rd and November 4th to celebrate Dave’s and my own birthdays as we both turn 35 this year and the most important thing we want is a nicer world for our children. I’ve been counting them down and this is where we’re at now!

PAOK # 23 – You know how you circle the parking lot at the grocery store for the best spot before you finally park?  Vivi & I bypassed a couple of them on a busy day for the cars behind us. Hopefully that made their crazy go to Wal-Mart on a Saturday which most people hate shopping trip just a little more tolerable.

PAOK #24 – This is one we’ve been talking about for awhile. We wanted to truly impact someones life, if only for that day. We’ve been putting aside $10 per paycheck and last Saturday we exchanged them for a $100 bill. On Monday, Labor Day, we had dinner at a Waffle House. We left the $100 bill as a tip along with a note, so the waitress didn’t think it was a mistake. She was a nice woman, working hard on a holiday. I will admit to you that I had flashes of the things I could buy with a $100 bill, but this is something we knew we wanted to do. And it felt good. I wish I was rich so I could do it all the time. I hope it made her day.

Check out the Proactive Kindness page at the top of the blog for a list of ideas of things that are nice. Email me if you have any other ideas, I’ll gladly post your name and blog if it’s something I don’t already have! Sometimes it’s the smallest acts that mean the most.

I would LOVE to hear your stories in the comments! And I’ll link them back to the vivobello facebook page as well!

Wow!! I just got goosebumps and what a wonderful impact you made on that waitress’s day. The best I’ve done is give away Max’s old Scout shirt to the Cub Scout’s uniform closet but I’m seriously thinking about baking cookies for my neighbor… does that count??????

  2. I love this idea. You are not only affecting those around you with your acts of kindness but are setting a wonderful example for your children. I will keep checking in!

  4. Your 35 good deeds project is amazing! I’m totally impressed with the 100 dollar bill tip idea, wow! I am more than sure it made the waiter’s day! And I think not even just a day – she’ll most probably remember it for a long time!

Thank you Julia! I hope you’re right. I would love for people to be impacted long term. And our family is getting so much more out of it than I thought we would. I knew it would feel good to help in the community, but it’s truly changing the way we look at other people and our impact in society. It’s amazing watching the children “get it”. Thank you for your comments! They keep us motivated!
