I received this email recently and I’m so touched by these children and their generosity! They are learning a gift that will last a lifetime – compassion for fellow humans.
It was St. Pats day for cryin out loud! Every year I dye the food green and my children refuse to eat it. I swear someday they will look back with fond memories… or it will give them fodder for their therapist. Either way, it’s fun, right? The oldest eats it, the others think I’m trying to poison them. And the youngest eats dog food! (not on a regular basis, I swear) Alright, so maybe Beef Stroganoff is not one of the things that should be dyed. It was pretty gross looking. But it tasted pretty darn good. And, I have a LOT of leftovers if anyone wants to try it!
She is so proud that she raised cash, via pay pal and food & toys from Amazon for Gateway Pet Guardians. We know of people who did both, we’re just not sure how much. With her personal birthday gifts, she received about $100.00, and is planning a shopping trip to buy dog food and chewies! She’s going on a ride along to help feed the abandoned animals later this month. I’m so proud of her! GPG even named their latest rescue dog Bella! She was SO thrilled. (of course, she begged to adopt her, but with 5 kids, a cat & a dog already, we are pretty maxed out!) But they are in great need for foster or adoptive homes, if you feel like you could use a little extra love in your life!
