Abella Bernard. Coffe Table. December 05th, 2017.
You can find coffee tables that offer extra seating in your room as well. Some of these include comfy seats that store under the table when they are not in use. Other coffee tables double as ottomans or sometimes, large ottomans can become coffee tables with just the addition of an attractive tray.
Function, The way you use your coffee table is a key factor, if yours tends to double as a dining table for yourself or children, look for an easy to clean surface such as glass or poly, if you are intending on housing your DVD collection in your coffee table you will need to look for something with storage. If you have young children who may be crawling, or climbing on furniture, you may like to consider something with round edges, which does not necessarily limit you to round designs; many rectangle tables will have a softer curved edge.
And this is an important measure to consider because a round wood coffee table will often take on many different functions. So, really, if you want one that is great for the kids to draw on, eat dinner off but you still want it to look sleek, cool and minimal, then there will be a trade off. And if you dont consider all the aspects before you take a trip to the new designer furniture store, you may come back with a very desirable but basically impractical piece of furniture.
The material also has its importance. Glass tables are very beautiful and fit in most rooms, but are more difficult to maintain, and if there are young children in the house, they are not the ideal as accidents can occur. White is a very beautiful colour, but again, it is difficult to maintain. Even a single cup placed directly on the table, it can leave marks. Do not be afraid of colour. A mass of orange, green or red will be a splash of colour and will cheer you up every morning. Usual height of coffee tables is normally between 40 and 45 inches. If you often have guests, a higher one might be more suited, because everyone will be able to reach their cup. A rule of interior design says that the height of the coffee table should be about the same height (or not less than five inches lower than) the couch. Ideal length is two thirds of the couch. However, no rule is set in stone. Depending on your tastes and the rest of the room, you can choose what ever size and colour coffee table you wish.
